The world benefits when women step into their power, break through glass ceilings, challenge stereotypes, and inspire others with their resilience and determination. Empowered women empower society, driving progress and equity towards a brighter and more inclusive future for all. - Julie Fairhurst

These are the stories of women like me (and you)!

If you have not read the stories of these incredibly inspiring and courageous women, well, you are missing out!

The books are not theme books. The authors tell the story that they feel impacted their lives. Stories that have rich and valuable lessons to pass onto the reader help them with their struggles.

What did the women write about?

Samantha Syvret went from homelessness to owning her own home through Habitat for Humanity.

Marisa Lavallee, who, as a young child, survived living in the wilderness.

Lynn Coleman, who was in hiding and realized she couldn’t hide forever.

Kandis Wells wrote a beautiful love letter to her three-year-old self.

Sherri Sacco, who one day looked in the mirror and saw a hallow face, whose arms and legs were like sticks, that was the day realizing she had a severe problem.

Sharon Jones raised two bi-racial daughters, never understanding their young struggles until Black Lives Matter woke her up.

I’ve given you just a sample of a few of the stories you will read in Women Like Me.

Women Like Me Volume 2

Incredible women delve deep into their lives to share their personal stories of inner strength, resilience, and immense courage to keep moving forward and not give up. It was not easy for them to write their stories in this book. There were tears for some, thoughts that they could not do it as they relived buried memories of the past. But they did do it!

I celebrate them, and I know they celebrate themselves.

The writers in Women Like Me are like all women in one way or another. They are women who have loved and have lost, only to rise and love again. They are women who experience devastating illnesses and find peace. They are women who come out of hiding and find their voices so they can speak their truths.

These courageous women believe by telling their stories here, other women will find the inspiration to keep moving forward in their lives, no matter the difficulties they may be facing or by what has happened in their past. Women Like Me and the stories you will find inside will act as a shining light to guide your way towards living your best life.

Women Like Me Volume 3

“A wise woman wishes to be no one’s enemy; a wise woman refuses to be anyone’s victim.”
-Maya Angelou

In this book you will find stories from brave and wise women who have found their voices so they could speak up for themselves, speak up for the ones they love, and fight for what they wanted and needed in their lives. They are women like all of us, who are trying to live their best lives for themselves and their loved ones.

These 14 incredible women have come together, writing their personal stories releasing themselves from their past, and encouraging others in similar situations to do the same. Their lives took them on journeys that compelled them to look deep inside themselves and discover who they are as women in the world. And most importantly, to accept themselves.

They write about mental illness, sexual assault, death, dreams and goals, addictions, children, traveling to faraway places, and acceptance of the choices they have made in their lives. The stories are fascinating!

They are proud of who they have become—describing themselves as powerful, assertive, yet compassionate and vulnerable. Each is unique, and there is such beauty in their souls.

They simply are women like me and you, like all of us, sharing their stories with the world in the hope of inspiring other women to want to live their best lives. They are Women Like Me.

Women Like Me Volume 4

“Your silence will not protect you.”

~Audre Lorde

The Authors in volume four of Women Like Me – Breaking Through The Silence are powerful women. They know the damage that keeping secrets and not speaking up for yourself can do overtime. Every time a woman keeps silent, it teaches the next generation of women that we still need to stay silent, to remain quiet.

It’s not healthy to keep secrets, even small ones. There can be a lot of anxiety and stress, which can lead to depression. You hold it in your mind and body. It’s always in the back of your mind. When you release it through your voice or writing, you can let go and not be held down by it.

Within this edition of Women Like Me (volume four), you are going to discover eleven women who decided not to hide anymore, to speak up for themselves, and to speak up for their loved ones.

These are courageous women. They are Women Like Me and women like you, and they will no longer be silent.

Women Like Me Volume 5

“Grief is the price we pay for love. ”

~ Queen Elsabeth

Grieving your loss is a process that has to take place in order for healing to happen. And it takes time. How much time? Well, that would depend on the individual.

The eleven women who have written in this book, Women Like Me – From Loss To Living, have dealt with overwhelming loss in their lives. Each deals with it in their individual way. However, they dealt with it, and in the end, they were able to overcome it, move forward, and start living again.

These incredible ladies are sharing their stories in the hope that you, the reader, will find comfort, peace, and inspiration to move forward in your life. It was a healing experience for them to tell their story. When we keep our stories lock up in our hearts and minds, negative emotions will eat away at our souls. These beautiful ladies released themselves through written words, telling their stories.

Sydney Mickey – Was in a life-changing car accident and will never live the same again.
Pauline Atitwa – Endured the death of a beautiful little girl, beaten by someone she trusted to care for her.
Donna Fairhurst – Writes about the death of her beloved mother.
Tania Dashcavich – She experienced trauma and much loss and is the child of a Residental School Survivor.
Brenda-Lee Huot-Hunter – Enlightens the reader about the Child Welfare System and the loss of a little one she cared for.
Alison Degianni – Tells a story of addiction while trying to numb the feelings of loss in her life.
Colinda Laviolette – Writes about a childhood of abuse and finding her way back to her Indigenous Culture for healing.
Sabrina Lambert – Tells the reader about advocating for herself in the medical system, her illness, and overcoming.
Dana Cartwright – Experienced loss several times in her life and how she emotionally survived her trauma.
Linda S. Nelson – Writes about emotional trauma growing up and how it shaped her future and sense of worthiness.
Rosa Livingstone – Writes about the trauma of her two son’s brain injuries and her role as their mother.

Women Like Me Volume 6

“Understanding is the first step to acceptance, and only with acceptance can there be recovery.”

~ J.K. Rowling

We’re taught that acceptance is important if you want to get along with people and have good relationships. But are you aware that acceptance is vital to your happiness?

If you’re struggling to accept a person or a current/past situation, then you may want to recognize this as a possible ‘red flag.’ Usually, we are accepting of it all without much stress. However, if you are seriously struggling to accept something, it could be a signal that you have a problem, either in your mindset or your attitude. Are you holding onto a situation? Possibly, your thoughts are too negative, or you are not seeing things clearly.

Regardless of why you may be doing it, if you are doing it, you should get to work to remove the negative mindset that could be holding you back. You will feel so much better about yourself and your life if you work on acceptance. Now, don’t get your back up about what I’m saying here. Acceptance can be similar to forgiveness in terms of someone who hurt you or did you wrong. Forgiveness is not saying it is okay, but it is forgiving so that you can move forward with your life. You are accepting that someone wronged you; that’s it. With this realization, it will be easier to leave that past where it belongs
behind you.

Acceptance is like that. Your acceptance of your past. You can’t change it. You accept it, learn from what happened, and move on. Never stay stuck!

These women are women like you and me who want the best for themselves and those they love. Healing and acceptance helped them be able to write their stories for you and share their important life lessons in this book.

If their stories can help just one person to overcome, then that one person can help someone, and the chain of healing and acceptance can grow.

Women Like Me Volume 7: Strong Women in Kenya

“I am not free while any woman is unfree, even when her shackles are very different from my own.”

~Audre Lorde

It took me quite a long time to develop a voice, and now that I have it, I am not going to be silent.”
