PITY PARTY OR CHAMPAGNE?: When Death Knocks On Your Door, How Will You Answer? by Sheri Godfrey

Born and raised in Nova Scotia, Canada, Sheri’s foundational values have always been based on helping your neighbor. We grew up just adding another chair to the table in a time of need – especially for those challenging times and tough conversations.

When my mom was diagnosed with ovarian cancer, it opened my eyes to how I viewed end of life and our time on earth. After some investigating, I was called to become a Certified End Of Life Doula. For me, helping a loved one – mine or yours – navigate the last chapter of life is a very rewarding honor. My path has twisted and turned, and I am honored to help families navigate transitions.

I enjoy being active with my husband, Tim, in my downtime and enjoy sleepovers with my grandson, Jaxon, as he keeps me young at heart.

I am certified as an End Of Life Doula through Douglas College, and I am here to have those difficult conversations with you and your family.

I understand the challenges and the emotions. My mother’s aggressive incurable ovarian cancer diagnosis prompted me to become certified to help other families navigate these challenging times.

Death is a guarantee for each of us. When we can make these conversations part of our everyday vocabulary, families can move through final days with greater understanding, love, compassion, and support.

Don’t leave your End Of Life plan to the bitter end, pre-planning really does lift a weight off of your shoulders, and it does create ease and grace for your family.

“Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming, ‘Wow! What a ride!”

~ Hunter S. Thompson
