This Crazy Little Thing Called ADHD: How a late diagnosis changed a nurse entrepreneurs life by Vannessa Fowler

Vannessa  is a Registered Nurse currently living in Kelowna, B.C., with her two young adult children, her gorgeous four year old granddaughter and amazing spouse.

Vannessa’s biggest accomplishments were finishing school (grade 11 and 12) in only eight months while caring for her baby. As a single mother Vannessa did not let anything stand in the way of her future, she completed nursing school while raising two children. For 17 years, Vannessa worked as an Emergency Room nurse, while running her business along the way. In 2014, Vannessa opened one of the few RN Patient Advocacy companies in Canada called Nightingale Patient Care Advocacy Corporation. Vannessa is the CEO of this corporation.

On top of Vannessa’s busy career she finds time to enjoy many hobbies. Jam nights with her spouse and friends, making space vibrate high with their music, she loves to entertain and is often the center point for people to hang and meet each other.

Spending quality time with her family is essential for Vannessa. Gardening has become one of the passions in her life. Vannessa loves to cook, camp, travel, make artistic creations with paint, wood, metal and flowers.

Vannessa’s passion for advocacy and supporting patients is paramount. She knows not everyone has a strong voice. She found in her nursing career patients needed someone to stand up for them.

“The truth is something that burns. It burns off dead wood. And people don’t like having the dead wood brunt off, often because they’re 95 percent dead wood. When you have something to say…Silence is a lie.”
